STEM camp - Derek & Dustin

Derek and Dustin were able to attend a great free camp over at Florida State University PC Campus.  It focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).  It was even better for me because Derek could drive them there!  Our family attended the awards ceremony on Friday afternoon.

Cub Scout Pinewood Derby

All 4 cub scouts raced against each other several times.  Brandon's car was always the fastest, so he was very happy!

Romeo

We have agreed to help take care of Romeo on a somewhat long term dog-sitting basis.  He's a bichon.  It's an odd situation for sure.  His owners recently moved here from South Dakota into a rental property and although they were under the impression that pets were negotiable, they were told otherwise once they moved in (via registered letter).  They don't know anyone here (including us quite honestly), but we have agreed to keep him for a while at least (possibly up to a year). He's a pretty good dog and we're all getting used to one another.  It gives us a good trial run on dog ownership, and we can just give him back for vacations.  Not too bad really.

Kaylee made the mistake of letting him run by the pond.  It took about 2 hours to pick all the beggar lice out of his fur.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Against my better judgment, I agreed to volunteer at Cub Scout Day Camp this year.  It actually wasn't too bad, and Brandon and Cody had a good time.  The theme was Star Wars.

Derek helped volunteer the day that they built "pod racers."
Of course, you can't always be happy - especially when you're being offered for $14.99 (the name tags were printed on the back of old price tags).
All smiles on race day.

More randomness

Kaylee decided mom needed some special treatment after a week at Girls' Camp.  If only mom had been able to sleep a little longer before breakfast in bed arrived :).
Brandon on our newly refurbished swing seat.
It has wood on the back now, so hopefully it won't be breaking through anymore!
A box turtle that the kids found.
Brandon flying his birthday kite during the recent tropical storm.

Random pictures from June

Bosco is our neighbor's dog that Kaylee walks several times a week.  When Gail went out of town, Bosco spent some extra time with us.
It's hard to see, but that's Kaylee's soccer team out on the field.  Panama City has a new professional soccer team, The Pirates, and they invited the BCYSA championship teams to walk out with them before the game.
Just a random picture of me.
Some dead chickens and Roger's butcher station.  Kind of gross and time consuming, but  these weren't laying much anymore.
The kids happened to see this turtle laying eggs in front of our house.
One of many puzzles we have been doing.  Dustin brought home A LOT of puzzles that a teacher at school was planning to send to Goodwill.  Many of them are 500 or 1000 piece ones, so the puzzle table is pretty much always out for now!

YW Girls' Camp at Woodmen of the World

I was able to go spend the week at Girls' Camp, which was not much like camping, but was a  lot of fun. If only I could have gotten more sleep :).
One of the many braids I did (this one requested the zig zag part)
The Lynn Haven Ward Young Women about to do their dance at camp (I braided almost all of these heads, too.)

There was a very talented YCL doing people's toes.  She ended up decorating about 31 people I think!
The wall outside our room.  "Scripture Heroes" was the theme, and we chose Daniel.
Like I said, doesn't really resemble camping.

I just realized I didn't take any pictures outside, although we really did spend quite a bit of time outdoors!

A visit from Grandpa, Grandma, Crystal, and Rylee

Because Scout Camp and Girls' Camp ended up overlapping, Crystal agreed to come down and take care of Brandon and Kaylee for the week.  Grandpa and Grandma came to help, too.

 They brought more birthday presents!

He LOVES his new pajamas!
