Kaylee's new hamster, Demetri

Kaylee finally saved up enough money to buy a new hamster. She was just a little excited. Demetri is a Russian White (hence the name).

Kaylee's art downtown

Each year, several students from each school are selected to display their art in a show downtown. One of Kaylee's pieces was selected this year, so we went to see it on display. She was supposed to create hybrid animals and name them.

Visit to see Emily's new baby, Eric

When I first arrived in Tallahassee, Emily and Mom had taken Eric to the doctor. Grandpa was taking the other kids for a ride. The hat perched high on his head made me laugh.

Battle of the Books

There are 25 books on the Sunshine State List each year. Fourth graders have a competition called the Battle of the Books where they have to correctly identify quotes from the books by either title or author. Kaylee was chosen to participate on her class team. They won the school battle and then went on to win the area battle as well. They did a great job in the county competition in April, but didn't quite pull out the overall victory.

Spring Break - Camping at Oconee State Park, SC

We enjoyed a nice trip to South Carolina over spring break. Grandpa and Grandma Leckie, Sara, and Nate & Geri and their family came and camped with us at Oconee State Park. Crystal joined us for a while, too. We had a great time - except for the part where the park rangers thought our boys might have been involved in some explosive pranks going on. Fortunately, they weren't!
