Kaylee's 11th birthday

Kaylee's friends were not told to wear green, but apparently it is the "in" color, so there was a lot of it.  Kaylee is certainly a green freak lately.  Her room is even painted bright green!  

Not the prettiest cake I've ever done, but it tasted good!  (We were using some leftover real whipped cream).

Strange place to find an Eagle

We are fortunate enough to enjoy steaks every now and then, courtesy of Roger's parents and their cows.  Tonight Dustin discovered our national emblem in his t-bone.  (We are using this picture as evidence to convince Dustin that he needs to brush his teeth better!)

Vultures on the roof

So, this freaked me out just a little.  I was working inside one day and kept hearing these big flapping sounds and thumps on the roof.  I looked outside and saw 4 vultures on the carport in the back and then went looked out the front window and saw 5 or 6 more vultures sitting on the fenceposts.  I can only imagine that there were several on the roof of the house, too, given the noise level.  I didn't particularly like being surrounded by scavenging birds!

He managed to do this on the bus with a miniature suction cup.  It lasted several days!

Derek's Duathlon

Don't have any pictures from the actual event, but Derek participated in the Bluewater Bay Duathlon today and placed 1st in his age group.  It was a 3K run, 15K bike, and then 5K run.  This is a picture of him getting his "winner's mug."
