Youth Conference

Once again this year, I got to chaperone at youth conference.  It was a 6-Stake Conference held at Troy University in Alabama.  I really do enjoy spending time with the kids and hearing the amazing speakers.  My own testimony is always strengthened.  I wasn't good about carrying my camera, but I did get a few pictures.

Derek got a job this summer working at a restaurant called Boon Docks.  He mostly busses tables, but he also helps in the kitchen some.  He's working lots of hours and seems to enjoy it.  I know he likes getting a paycheck, and he's doing a good job of saving some money for his mission and college.

STEM camp - Derek & Dustin

Derek and Dustin were able to attend a great free camp over at Florida State University PC Campus.  It focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).  It was even better for me because Derek could drive them there!  Our family attended the awards ceremony on Friday afternoon.

Mormon Prom - Derek's fancy first date

Derek's first date was somewhat arranged by the girls in the ward.  He broke out the old choir tux andwent to the Mormon Prom with a new girl named Candyce.  Several couples went together to Olive Garden for dinner and then had a good time at the dance (where I was conveniently a chaperone).

Family Life project - repainting the front door

Another reason to like scouting.  Derek peeled off our damaged paint and redid the front door.  It's much better now!
